As she grew older, the author began to question the teachings and practices of the FLDS. She stole forbidden books and secretly listened to music, exposing herself to ideas and perspectives that challenged the cult's dogma.

The Arranged Marriage

At the age of 17, the author was forced into an arranged marriage with a man much older than her. The marriage was a nightmare, characterized by sexual abuse, physical violence, and emotional manipulation.

She was cut off from her family and friends, and lived in constant fear of her husband's wrath. Desperate for a way out, she began to plot her escape.

Breaking Free

The author's escape from the FLDS was a perilous journey. She had to overcome surveillance, manipulation, and the threat of retaliation.

With the help of a sympathetic outsider, she finally broke free and sought refuge in a safe house. She spent the next several years rebuilding her life and healing from the trauma she had endured.

She went on to become an advocate for victims of human trafficking and polygamous cults, sharing her story and helping others break free from the clutches of religious extremism.
